About us

McSweeney Brothers is an Irish owned, family operated business originally founded in 1971. The very first road gang consisted of Pat McSweeney and his brothers John, Hughie and the late Denis.

The reason why the McSweeneys decided on this line of work was because in the early ‘70s two of the brothers returned from England with a skill of tarmacadam laying. This knowledge was combined with the other two brothers’ mechanical know how. This pooling of knowledge of expertise resulted in the founding of the business. “At that time 25 years ago tarmac was beginning to get popular so we decided why not have a shot at it” Pat McSweeney said.

Over the past 25 years

Over the past 25 years McSweeney Brothers have owned and operated out of a number of quarries and gravel pits. The first was near Timoleague and the most current quarry is located at Kilmichael.

Today McSweeney Brothers has grown into McSweeney Bros. Quarries Ltd and McSweeney Bros Contracts Ltd.

Our fleet of Green trucks can be seen all over Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, in fact anywhere in Munster, delivering Tarmacadam, Asphalt and Stone Products from our Plants and Quarries to our Contract Sites.

With our Head Office at Ballinacarriga, Dunmanway, Co Cork, Mcsweeney Bros employs approximately 40 employees from the Cork and Kerry region, all trained in the latest technology and skills, to provide a quality service to all our Customers.
